Lenovo Thinkpad E480 Windows 11
Hi,
I checked the lenovo website (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-e480-type-20kn-20kq/solutions/ht512623-lenovo-devices-supported-for-windows-11) to see if my thinpad E480 could update to windows 11, and it is specified as a supported pc, but when I check on my laptop, it says it can't install Windows 10. I made sure the install of windows 10 was UEFI, secure boot on, tpm 2 on, etc.. I also installed the lenovo apps like system update and updated the bios. (I tried posting this on the lenovo forums but their website is garbage and wouldn't let me make an account)

hi tom1321 you can try below
Reboot into BIOS / UEFI
- Enable “Security Chip” / TPM.
- Enable Secure Boot (if not already).
- Save changes, exit, and reboot.
Run TPM Check
- Run tpm.msc in Windows → check “Specification Version” → must read 2.0.
Run PC Health Check
- Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check app to re-evaluate compatibility after the above firmware changes.
If Health Check Still Fails
- Consider doing a clean install of Windows 11 (mount ISO, run setup) — but back up your data first.
- Use Microsoft’s Windows 11 Installation Assistant from the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
Ask Lenovo Support
- Reach out to Lenovo: mention your exact model type (20KN/20KQ) and ask whether your serial number is a “TPM-disabled region” unit.
- Check Lenovo’s Windows 11 Upgrade Guide for business / enterprise customers.
