Pages of Bing.com automatically jumping to the top of page
- noiwillnotMar 04, 2024Copper ContributorAs you will notice from my previous posts, this has also happened to me, along with many other people, and I have had to resort to TamperMonkey for a solution. It shouldn't be necessary to have to change browser, particularly if it is a browser that particularly suits. This a Microsoft programming issue and as such Microsoft should have the responsibility of fixing it.
Not that I think that there is any danger of that happening. We have not even had a respnse from them.- HotCakeXMar 19, 2024MVP
1. If you are using an adblocker extension, turn it off for Bing.com
2. Clear all browser data, not just cache
3. Turn off all of the browser extensions
also maybe record a short video to show the problem more clearly. Just press CTRL + Shift + S and start recording a video on Windows. As a daily Bing user I'm really curios to see this problem.
- noiwillnotMar 19, 2024Copper ContributorHow many more notifications and complaints does MS need before the act and fix the problem?
Why should I be making a video of the problem?
Why tell us to:-
"1. If you are using an adblocker extension, turn it off for Bing.com
2. Clear all browser data, not just cache
3. Turn off all of the browser extensions"
The problem has absolutely nothing to do with any of the above.
When we all know full well where the problem is and how it works. We know because we have a successful workaround in the shape of the Tampermonkey script. The fact that the Tampermonkey script works is proof in identifying the problem and how simple it would be to fix.
The Tampermonkey script is excellent but it should not be necessary, if MS did there job properly and kept there products working in the way their customers wish.
So, what on God's earth are MS playing at?
- noiwillnotMar 04, 2024Copper ContributorHow long has this problem of Pages of Bing.com automatically jumping to the top of page been around? Over Two Years and absolutely no response from MS. Disrgraceful, although no surprising, given their arrogance.

I recently started using Microsoft Edge instead of Safari, Firefox, Brave, and Vivaldi, and even though the last two are Chrome based browsers like Edge, Edge does not share that same problem with Bing springing back to the top of the page. I prefer Edge (the newest version) over the others as it is very fast, and it has just the right elements that I use fairly daily. Of course, prior to using the new Edge, Bing's AI component was not nearly as integrated on other browsers as it is in Edge. I just hope MS continues to keep up with it as it really is a nice browser.
However, it seems a little slipshod to have Bing continue to react the way it does with other browsers. It's as if the final approval for whatever last work that was done on it was given without verifying that it functions correctly with at least the most common browsers. I wouldn't like to believe that it is an oversight, especially having existed for so long. But I don't know what is worse, it being an oversight in that respect or MS just not caring or wanting to insure something as basic and widely used as a browser would function in a useful way.
But then hey... Apple hasn't pulled any punches these past ten plus years in the way it makes almost every decision based on how much more money it can extract from its loyal followers. My having been one myself for over three decades... well I don't buy that nonsense and never did. At least back in the 90s when we saw Apple screwing up, we didn't fawn all over ourselves in ridiculous worship over a company. So, we didn't' toss our money at it like today's users and in in ungodly amounts. I think this whole having only two major OS is no better than having just one when it comes to hardnosed, pushing people into a corner, monopolistic practices. Because it's all too easy to take the attitude "if you don't like it, go to the other side and see how you like it." Especially since both Microsoft and Apple are number 1 and 2 for the highest valued corporations in the nation. And yes, I'm aware that there is Linus, but I don't' really have any experience with it at all and at this. point don't know if it is something I could wrap my head around if it requires too much coding, programming, or the like. However, I am checking up on what it would take to download it and test on a partitioned start-up disk. Because my 12-year-old Mac is about ready to bite Tim Cooks **bleep** and I'm not willing to spend $2,500 on a new M3 that has a closed system that cannot be upgraded –– ever. Not unless I'm willing to hand Apple $200 per upgrade, per step up. That's insane. Just to go from 256G SSD to 512G is $200. Then another $200 to go to 1T, etc., etc. noiwillnot
