New Tab Page not reflecting "My Interest" settings

What's up with the New Tab Page "My Interests" option? It doesn't appear to be working correctly. I have turned off all News, Sports, and Finance selections and have disabled the Sports, Money, and Horoscope Information Cards. However, when looking at "My Feed" the first three pages of info are filled with nothing but News Stories that have no relation to any of the interests I've selected. In addition, I'm not sure what the "Information Cards" are but I still see the "Sports" and "Finance" options across the top of my feed to the right of the "My Feed" selection. How do I turn all this stuff off? Thanks!
