Setting Up a Basic Azure Virtual Desktop with Windows 11 for Personal Use

Hello Azure Community,

I'm reaching out for guidance on setting up a personal Azure Virtual Desktop running Windows 11. I understand that there are several steps involved in this process, including setting up a host pool and other details. However, for my particular use-case, I only require a single virtual machine, so I don't believe I would need a pool.

Could anyone walk me through the basic steps for creating a single, personal Azure Virtual Desktop? My requirements are:

  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Always available

Additionally, I am aiming to achieve this setup at the lowest possible cost. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions on how to optimize costs without sacrificing performance and availability.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

Thank you very much for your answer, I wanted something more direct.

I've been comparing the same type of compute on AWS (the one I currently use) and Azure options, it's amazing to me that Amazon is still cheaper.

It would be great if Microsoft considered that perhaps many of the software developers would prefer Azure for the advantages that Microsoft offers, like the same and new Windows Dev, or simply Windows 11.

But it's a shame, we will continue to use AWS because of the prices.
