RemoteApp for Word/Excel with Google Drive
The recommended approach for integrating Google Drive with Microsoft Word and Excel in a RemoteApp environment (such as Azure Virtual Desktop or Remote Desktop Services) is to install Google Drive for Desktop on the RemoteApp host. This application provisions a mounted drive (e.g., G:), enabling Office applications to open and save files directly to Google Drive. At present, Microsoft Office does not provide a native plugin for Google Drive; the officially supported integration method is through Google Drive for Desktop.

How can I get this working in a pooled host scenario, where multiple users share the same RemoteApp host, given that Google Drive is primarily designed for per-user installations?
