Prepare now for Remote Desktop client for Windows end of support
On March 27, 2026, the Remote Desktop client standalone installer (MSI) for Windows will reach end of support. Before that date, IT administrators may need to migrate their users to Windows App so they can continue connecting to their remote resources via Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and Microsoft Dev Box. Remote Desktop client will continue to receive security updates until end of support, after which it will no longer be available for download.
To learn more about how to prepare for end of support on March 27, 2026, please read aka.ms/RemoteDesktopClient.

You had a "Remote Dekstop" app, that you had in the store "the windows app" it allowed nice features for admins. I am still using it because works well. The new app you can add servers manually (finally) but, I can't save account for common machines or other things. It's just a shortcut to the old remote desktop app.
Fix that and I'll remove the OLD Windows App, still running it because it does what I need, I even have the installer to re-install if I need to rebuild....
FIX the app for admins who don't have an Azure desktops, just machines we need to RDP to.

It will not allow me to do anything without a corporate or school account??? I have neither.
I use Remote for the VPS & this doesn't seem to support it, but it does on my iPhone.
Make it make sense.... - fcabjCopper Contributor
Please, where is official ADMIN documentation for Android version of Windows App for troubleshooting error 0x204 when connecting to Windows 11 machines on-prem? Everything was working few days ago in old app. Now it changed automatically to Windows app and no single one of our users is able to connect to W11 machines which are all on-premise. What is difference in creating rdp connections between old and new app? Where is documentation about security of Windows App (e.g. configuration and usage of protocols etc.)? Thank you for any help. Our organization is stuck. Is there any official way how to use old app on Android devices?

Is there a way to list out all of the client workstations that have connected to our AVD environment over the past 90 days so I can get an idea of all the workstations we'll need to pay attention to for the migration?
I looked at the AVD insights and log analytics tables in Azure and it doesn't seem to contain this info.
Thanks.
