Need help understanding Disks
Hello,
I created a VM with Linux (fedora 38) with Standard D2s v3 (2 vcpus, 8 GiB memory).
I thought that I needed to create a Disk for it to run on, so I created a Standard SSD LRS with 64 GiB. I can see that it exists in the Azure dashboard.
However, in the VM, when I look at the drive's properties, it says that the disk Capacity is 8.9 GiB.
I don't understand why the VM isn't using the 64 GiB Disk. Can someone explain, please?
Thank you.

It is not necessary to assign additional disk for OS install unless you would like to have have dedicated one for another purpose such as Data storage
- Hello,
When you create a VM in Azure, you do not necessarily have to add an additional disk. When you select the size in Azure, the operating system hard disk is assigned accordingly. Of course, you can add an additional hard disk if you want to save files on this hard disk.
Kind regards,
