Do we really need the AAD Domain Services for AVD
Do we really need to set-up Azure Active Directory Domain Services when setting up Azure Virtual Desktop? The reason why I ask this is, I have recently noticed that using AADDS adds up a $100 addition to every month's bill. I really want to cut this cost, is there any other ways to implement AADDS or can we skip AADDS? Please advice.
- Hi,
You have a couple of options when setting up AVD.
- on premise domain controller with Azure AD Connect > S2S or expressroute needed for DNS
- Azure domain Controller with Azure AD Connect
- AADDS
- in the future Native AAD support will be there for Personal and Pooled Host Pools (public preview now)
