Can't Connect to AVD from Mac

I have configured AVD and the server is Azure AD joined so users can login with their Microsoft 365 credentials. This works great when connecting from a Windows machine using both the Remote Desktop app and the web app. When connecting from a mac using either method results in an error, "The user account did not work".

 

The mac I am testing with is managed by Intune and is in a compliant state.

 

Is there something that need to be done for a mac to be able to connect?

      I have tried the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client from the app store and added the workspace and the web client at https://windows365.microsoft.com/ent#/devices. I get the same result in either.
