AVD Disk drive letter change

Hello folks,

A customer is using the "Microsoft Remote Desktop" application and connecting to the AVD host.
The expectation is cx to define a different drive letter in the AVD session.

For example : Local drive letter C:\ redirected as V:\

I checked AVD Host Pool - RDP Properties, the selection and label of the driver to be redirected can be specified. But there is no option about drive letter. (drive/storage redirection)

Is this possible ? Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, it is possible to redirect a local drive in the Microsoft Remote Desktop application to a specific drive letter in the AVD session.

To do this, you can use the "Local Resources" settings in the Remote Desktop Connection client. When you open the Remote Desktop Connection client and connect to the AVD host, click on the "Show Options" button to expand the connection settings. Then, click on the "Local Resources" tab and under "Local devices and resources", click on the "More" button.

In the "Local Devices and Resources" window, you can select the local drive that you want to redirect and choose the drive letter that you want to use in the AVD session. To do this, select the "Drives" option and click on the "+" icon to expand it. Then, select the drive that you want to redirect and click on the "Configure..." button.

In the "Configure Drives" window, you can select the drive letter that you want to use in the AVD session. Once you have selected the drive letter, click on the "OK" button to save the changes.

After you have configured the local drive redirection in the Remote Desktop Connection client, when you connect to the AVD host, the local drive will be redirected to the specified drive letter in the AVD session.
