AVD Disconnection

Has anyone come across frequent AVD disconnection and Teams restart when on Teams calls and with respect to Geo block or some other factor.

  • Yes, many users have reported frequent Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) disconnections and Microsoft Teams restarts during calls, which may be related to geo-blocking or network issues. i recommend review the below:

    Geo-blocking & Network Restrictions
Enable ShortPath to improve AVD connection stability and reduce latency.
Use the optimized Teams for AVD version, clear the cache, and keep the app updated.
Adjust registry settings, such as KeepAliveTimeout, to prevent frequent disconnections.

Here i share link about this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/rdp-shortpath?tabs=managed-networks

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/teams-on-avd

    I hope can help you.

Thanks for the reply! In our office enabling RDP short path is causing more disconnects as we use relayed connection

  • Please considering on below:

    • Network Stability: Ensure that your network connection is stable and has sufficient bandwidth to support AVD and Teams calls. Unstable connections can lead to frequent disconnections.
    • AVD Optimization: Make sure that AVD media optimization for Teams is properly configured. This can help improve the performance of Teams calls within AVD.
    • Local Device Conflicts: If Teams is also running on your local device, it might conflict with the Teams instance within AVD. Try closing Teams on your local device before making calls within AVD.
    • Geo-blocking and Conditional Access: Geo-blocking or Conditional Access policies might be affecting your connection. Check if there are any location-based restrictions in place that could be causing the disconnections.
    • Teams Reset: Sometimes, resetting Teams can resolve issues. You can try repairing or resetting Teams through the app settings on your device.
