AVD - Disconnects throughout the day
KimNewgarden yes, our impression is that MS has done significant improvement in their core network during the first quarter of 2023. We still see some disconnects now and then, but we haven't seen a big one for a large number of user at the same time since early January.

We deployed a new host in a new host pool with GPO’s blocking RDShortpath and let 6 users who has had 1-2 times daily drops test on the host. So far 1 user has had 1 disconnect which was RDGatway reset, but no other drops. We’ve usually always seen «RDshortpath closed» or similar error messages. This tells me that either the GPO is helping (a lot!) or our hosts are overloaded (but the hosts rarely use 100% on any resource on any of the other hosts. We use scaling plans with width first from start of the working day and untill 2 hours after when it switches to depth first). Other than that, all GPO’s, configuration, settings, etc. are 100% similar.

Were also experiencing a massive number of AVD disconnects throughout the day. Anywhere between 5-50 per day per user with our AVDS split between Northern and Western Europe.
We run almost 100% Linux clients which connect via TCP due to no support for Shortpath for public networks currently.
I’m interested in whether turning off UDP on the session hosts is likely to show any improvement here. Is the theory that it’s the established UDP connection, UDP protocol and immature Shortpath that’s the issue, or is there something on the session host side which is trying to switch to a UDP connection and causing a disconnect. Therefore turning off UDP in GP may improve the disconnects. It’s difficult for us to test this as all the GP is managed by an external team so looking at the theory before I jump in with a request to them.

When you say 100% Linux clients, You mean its Linux Endpoints, from where users connecting to AVD or its the VM and you installed Linux there.
I asked this question, Because for us, We have Windows based End Points users + Linux based End Point users those connecting to AVD (Windows 10 VM). We notices that this disconnect happening with only from Windows based Endpoints. No issue reported via Linux based Endpoints.
