Active OneDrive makes whole environment 'sluggish'

We have the same issue here FSlogix on premium very fast (and expensive) storage, fast servers but opening OneDrive takes 10-30 minutes does not seem to matter how many users are on a server. Does not seem to matter if there are lots of files in the OneDrive either.
