Enable MS Purview
Hi, I'm considering trialing MS Purview in my organization but not sure if there would be any immediate impact to our users if I enable the trial version. I can't seem to find this info anywhere...

Thank you for posting your question here. While I understand the concern, enabling a Purview trial will not directly cause an impact on your users or revoke access to any content. When you enable the trial, you will be enabling the ability to leverage the different purview features, such as Endpoint DLP or Insider Risk Management but you would need to go in and create policies that generate these impacts yourself.

Thank you for your response. I have a few more follow up questions hoping you could clarify.
If I understand your explanation correctly, when Purview (trial version or not) is turned on and using default configuration, policies, rules etc., during its discovery phase:
- It doesn't make any changes to the data such as marking a document as sensitive, archiving the data, restricting access to a sensitive document etc.
- Will the end users know if Purview was turned on?
- The use of Purview only positively or negatively impacts the end users when we make changes to the policies/configurations
- Can Purview be used to scan and classify data in SharePoint Online and OneDrive?
thank you
