Can sensitive data be masked in Microsoft Purview?

Currently, I have a requirement to mask sensitive data and information in file formats such as Word, Excel, TXT, and PDF for all employees in the company.

Based on the documentation I have read, solutions like DLP or IP in Microsoft Purview only support monitoring or encrypting these files but do not provide an action to mask data.

Is it feasible to mask sensitive data using Microsoft DLP Purview?

    Hey PhuDao!

If the information was useful for you, would you mind to leave this thread marked as closed/resolved? Otherwise may I help you with something else?

    Hello PhuDao,

As far as i know Microsoft Purview DLP doesn't support data masking directly. It can help monitor, encrypt, or block access to sensitive data, but it doesn't offer the capability to mask the data itself in files like Word, Excel, TXT, or PDF. For masking, you would need to use a different solution or combine DLP with third-party tools that offer data masking features.
