Blocking Teams owners from changing Team site sensitivity labels
Hello everyone,
Right now teams owners have the ability to change the sensitivity label at their own will. Is there a way to block this option?
- AlikocIron ContributorHi,
Yes, you can block Teams owners from changing the sensitivity labels on their Teams sites by modifying the permissions and settings for sensitivity labels in Microsoft Purview.
- Ensure that the sensitivity labels applied to Teams have specific permissions set for owners and members.
- In Microsoft Purview under Information Protection, navigate to Sensitivity labels and choose the label that is applied to the Teams sites.
- For each label, make sure to limit permissions for Teams owners. You can adjust settings like:
=Prevent them from changing the label.
=Define who has permissions to change or remove labels.
and last one,
-You can configure the label so that it applies by default and is locked, meaning only admins can change or remove it.
You can also do this by connecting to services via powershell with the Connect-SPOService command.

Hi Alikoc,
within the creation process of a sensitivitylabel I cannot find the option to adjust the permissions of a team owner. Can you show your explanation in the form examples and specifically for this piece?
