Hi Prathista Ilango ,
Thanks for the details!!
I was expecting auto labelling sensitivity labels for Fabric data assets in Purview Unified Catalog.
For example: I have created sensitivity label 'Test_Internal' (Scope: File and other data assets) and I have created an auto labelling policy for 'Test_Internal' and within the I have added SIT as 'Phone Number (keywords)'
Assume I have an employee table (its have employee phone number) in Fabric Lakehouse When I do the Purview data map scan it captures metadata details of the employee table (column level details) after the data map scan succeeded fabric data assets schema level information available in Unified catalog for discovery.
My question was while capturing metadata, does Purview Auto labelling the Phone Number column as 'Test_Internal' at schema level in Purview Unified Catalog (not in Fabric).
Kindly let me know if you require any further details.
Its quite urgent, Can you please confirm it asap.
Thanks,
Banu

Hello BanuMurali,
Automatically apply sensitivity labels is only possible via Inheritance from data sources or downstream inheritance. Refer to: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/governance/protected-sensitivity-labels#how-protected-labels-work-in-fabric-and-power-bi
For example, if auto labeling is applied for Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure SQL Database as data sources, the data remains classified when brought into Power BI. Or, say if the Power BI report has the label applied manually, dashboard inherits this applied label automatically.
Hope that clarifies.
Refer to: Sensitivity label inheritance from data sources in Power BI - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Sensitivity label downstream inheritance in Power BI - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Also refer to: Set or remove sensitivity labels programmatically with admin APIs - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn if you are looking to programmatically set/remove labels for large volumes of data.
Hope this helps!
