Microsoft Entra Connect Sync will STOP working on September 30, 2026

Hello,

Due to Microsoft's announcement that Microsoft Entra Connect Sync will stop working on September 30, 2026 if the installed version is below 2.5.79.0, we would like to know whether the other related components will also be affected.

We are currently running Microsoft Entra Connect Sync version 2.6.3.0, which was confirmed by a Microsoft engineer to be unaffected by this change.

However, we also have the components listed below, and we would like to confirm whether they will be affected as well:

  • Yes, all synchronization services in Microsoft Entra Connect Sync will stop working on 30-Sep-2026 if the installed version is below 2.5.79.0. Since you are running version 2.6.3.0, you are unaffected. However, related components such as Microsoft Entra Connect Health agents (Sync, AD DS, AD FS) also require minimum versions by the same deadline.

  • You are already on 2.6.3.0, so the stated September 30, 2026 requirement does not affect that Connect Sync installation: the required minimum is 2.5.79.0. The cutoff applies to every active Connect Sync server, including a staging server that could be promoted later. I would still treat this as an opportunity to document the current topology and confirm which server is actively exporting changes. In the Entra admin center, review the Connect Sync status, then on each server confirm the installed version and that the synchronization service is healthy. Review recent export errors rather than making configuration changes solely because of the notice. Keep the installed version current through the supported upgrade path. If other components in the environment are separate products, check their own lifecycle guidance; the Connect Sync minimum version does not automatically validate them.
