Azure for Students Subscription Renewal
Hello,
I'm unable to renew my Azure for Students Subscription as I get the following error message:
You are not eligible to renew Azure for Students Sign up for Azure for Students Starter.
Unfortunately, I teach ASP.NET and Azure courses at my community college so this is a big problem for me. It appears that at some point my subscription was changed to a free trial and now I'm unable to renew Azure for Students. I have two expired Azure for Students subscriptions as well on my account.
I've tried Azure support but they were unable to assist me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, that sounds like the account/subscription state may be blocking the student renewal flow. I would check whether the account is still recognized as eligible with the school identity and whether the old Azure for Students subscriptions are fully expired or converted. If the portal keeps offering only Students Starter or Free Trial, this probably needs Microsoft billing/subscription support to clean up the account eligibility state.
Thanks for your feedback Jamony. Unfortunately, I was advised that there is an unspecified limit to the number of Azure for Student renewals that a person can use and that I have reached my limit. This is a problem for any faculty teaching Azure as we typically want to use the free student subscription for as long as we teach Azure which often is much longer than a typical 4 year program. I'm surprised and disappointed with this policy as faculty shouldn't have to pay for Azure when they are teaching it to their students and using minimal resources but that's what I have been told. Please let me know if you or anyone else knows of a workaround to this problem.
Azure for Students subscriptions cannot be renewed once eligibility has lapsed. If your account has been converted to a free trial, or if you no longer meet the student verification requirements, renewal is not permitted. In such cases, Microsoft will display the message directing you to sign up for Azure for Students Starter, which provides limited free services without credits.

Thanks, it seems that at some point my account was converted to a free trial for some reason. Is there any workaround for this?
