Training Resources for viva insights workplace analytics

Hi all

I am looking to access content that will provide some training in this area, or the details of a partner/specialist providing this training/content.

Many thanks in advance

Andy

  • Hi AndySayer7780,

In the past there was a badging program designed to help train analysts to use Workplace Analytics effectively. That has not been updated for Viva Insights and there currently are not plans to do so. I will let the product team know that there is interest in a similar program for Viva Insights.

In the meantime I'd suggest reading through the documentation, especially these pages:
Person query overview | Microsoft Learn
Access query results and modify existing queries | Microsoft Learn
Introduction to Power BI templates in Microsoft Viva Insights | Microsoft Learn
Filters in advanced insights queries | Microsoft Learn
Custom metrics in Viva Insights | Microsoft Learn

Thanks, Jake. I'll look at these resources very soon.

Here's a little more context about my interests in this area. I'm an academic by training (PhD in Organization Theory) who has published research papers in the area of organizational network analysis. I'm looking for ways to improve my MBA level course offerings in the areas of people analytics and organization design. I also work as a consultant in the same area.

Some of the companies that I've worked with have asked about using data collected by Viva to do organizational network analysis. If I can help the clients do this, I can likely use the data for case studies for my courses--in an anonymized form of course.

But first things first...I don't know my way around Viva Insights very well. I've seen some of what's available publicly--Microsoft webpages, Youtube videos, etc.---but have no hands-on experience and don't know how to get it. Any resources that you can point me to--free or otherwise--would be most welcomed.
