Difference betwee managerID and supervisor indicator

Hi, Trying to run the manager effectiveness dashboard but I need to add an supervisor indicator to the org. data. Can someone explain the difference between this and the managerID?

Brenden you are correct about ManagerID:

Unique identifier for an employee’s manager. It can be the manager’s primary SMTP address or email alias.

SupervisorIndicator is defined as:

The manager status of an employee as IC (individual contributor), Mngr (manager), or Mngr+ (manager of managers).
