Definition of Small group conversation
- Jul 27, 2022
Hi stefania_n, in Business continuity, Small group conversations includes meetings, Teams unscheduled calls and Teams chats with between two to eight people, all internal.
You are welcome! You can find definitions for all our base metrics in this documentation article: Metric definitions for Advanced insights | Microsoft Docs. Think of base metrics as those that show up in the drop-down menu in Step 1 - Select metrics in any query. Base metrics are customizable, i.e. you can apply filters to them to measure specific behaviors.
Small group conversations is not actually a base metric--it's rather a combination of three custom metrics, which we add up in the Business continuity Power BI report. As such, you won't find the definition of Small group conversations in the documentation site.
However, the Power BI reports have glossaries, where we define the base metrics and custom metrics used in the report. In the glossary for Business continuity, you will find the definition of "% of employees with less than 2 hours per week in small group conversations in the last 2 weeks", which is the hero metric in the Engagement and connectivity page.
If there are any metrics for which you can't find definitions, please let us know and we will update the documentation site or glossaries accordingly.

Hi luhogner ,
yes the definition of what constitutes a small group conversation was not included in the glossary, hence our question here. So that is something that can definitely be added!
The definition in the glossary is not detailed: "% of employees with less than 2 hours per week in small group conversations in the last 2 weeks", It is not clear on whether email (or what other means of collaboration) was included - and you told us emails are not indeed included.
Please keep adding definitions to the glossary, that can really help us.
Many thanks
