Database for non-profits
As a matter of fact, this is a great fit for Access. You might get started with a template that includes the contact information aspect of what you want. That would be the "Contacts" template.
Then you can add the specific elements needed for tracking donations, etc. In fact, there is also a template called "Charitable Contributions" that might even be closer to what you require.
In both cases, of course, the templates are starting points for applications you will need to modify for your purposes.

Can you recommend a database developer in Bay Area or Sacramento who would charge a reduced rate for an environmental non-profit?

Good morning, Susan.
First, I downloaded the tempate from ArnelGP. That is, indeed, a template that is designed for the kind of application you might need. Unfortunately, as I stated, it was a template for a now deprecated version of Access that was supposed to allow forms to run in a browser, and hence over the internet. Surprisingly, it actually still works as a standalone, desktop only application. It can only be modified in a restricted way --via layout view-- and only supports the simplest type of code, called Macros. Other than that, it might well be a really good starting point from which to work to get design ideas.
Second, Crystal responded. This forum says I've reached the limit of Private Messages I can send! Amazingly limited, but they have their rules. Because I don't want to publish the text of her email here, in public, I asked her to log in here and try to contact you that way. Jeez, this forum makes it harder than it needs to be.
I suggest you talk to Crystal. She's really good at the training/support side of working with clients. Her introductory rate surprised me; perhaps she's willing to work for less to help you get started.
- George_HepworthJan 29, 2023Silver ContributorNot really. You could reach out to the San Francisco Area User Group. I have the group president's email, which I can provide to you if you send me a private message. I think that's possible through this forum. You could also post the request at the User Group I head up via our contact page. https://accessusergroups.org/pacific/contact/
I can forward the request to group members.
