My Work feed is missing on the Edge landig page with Beta 144.0.3719.18
Since introduction of Beta 144.0.3719.18 the Work / Discover is changed to Discover only on the landingpage. See below: This means that the handy Microsoft 365 information are missing (Latest documents, Sharepoint sites and comming up events). Stable version 143.0.3650.96 does not have this issue, next to MSN there is a toggle (Work Discover) to choose from. More people seen this behaviour? Starting in Edge 144, there are now 2 icons displaying in the GNOME applications menu. com.microsoft.Edge.desktop microsoft-edge.desktop Both of these files are installed as part of the RPM; the first has "NoDisplay=true" at the bottom, but that doesn't seem to work as intended. I think this value needs to be in the first section, under "[Desktop Entry]", in order for it to work properly.42Views1like1CommentEdge Workspaces “Unable to load workspaces” on all devices – account-level issue?
Hello, I’m experiencing a persistent issue with Microsoft Edge Workspaces and I’m looking for guidance from the Edge team or community. Whenever I try to open or create a Workspace, I get the error: “Unable to load workspaces”. What makes this issue particularly concerning is that it happens: - On multiple Windows PCs - On a Linux PC (Ubuntu) - On Edge Stable and Edge Canary - Always with the same Microsoft account Troubleshooting already attempted: - Sign out / sign in - Full Edge reset - Cache and cookies cleared - Sync disabled and re-enabled - Sync data reset - Verified no Workspaces folder exists in OneDrive - Tested with Edge Canary Since the error reproduces consistently across different machines and operating systems, this does not appear to be a local installation issue. It looks like a corruption or invalid state of the Edge Workspaces data stored in my Microsoft account. Unfortunately, this is a free account, so I have no direct channel to request a backend reset of the Workspaces data. Has anyone from the Edge team seen similar cases? Is there a way to trigger a reset or cleanup of Edge Workspaces data at the account level? Any help or escalation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.24Views0likes0CommentsApps on device flag in edge 145 beta .
Hello, A warm greeting. I would like to know about the apps on device flag that was introduced in Edge 145. I am running a web application that requires communication with a locally installed software. As per my information and knowledge, that requires the apps on device flag to be on and the local network flag to be allowed, but 1) When I am trying to search inside the settings of Edge, I am not able to find it at all. Please guide me on this, although I am able to find the local network flag: Sites can ask to connect to any device on your local network. 2) When I am trying to open my app inside ServiceNow CRM, it is visible on the address bar info icon but not inside the setting when I open Permissions for this site. 3) When I allow Sites can ask to connect to any device on your local network, there are three options: a) Local network b) Local network access c) Apps on device Please guide me on this flag.14Views0likes0CommentsCan we PLEASE get an option to disable tab groups?
Constantly I'm creating tab groups on accident by dragging around tabs. Extremely annoying will be switching to another browser until there is away to fix it. Also we are never going to get a fix for the mute tab button? Being able to mute individual tabs with the click of a button is great however, when I have a certain amount of tabs open-about 12 or so-I'm suddenly unable to click the speaker icon to mute a tab I'm not active on. I can hover over the speaker icon but instead of muting the tab, it forces me to first click on the tab for it to become active, THEN I can mute it. It works perfectly fine on other browsers like Chrome and it's forks. Like do you devs never even use your products?14Views0likes0CommentsEdge Dev: Video playback incredibly choppy on Macbook
Firstly, I thought this was a place to get help, but my last topic on this was deleted with no explanation? Anyway, the last two updates to Edge Dev have made all video playback basically unwatchable. This is on a Macbook. YouTube is the worst offender, but also videos on X etc all play very choppy indeed. Can anyone shed any light on what might be happening? Cheers6Views0likes0CommentsEdge for Linux/ARM64
I know there was announcements at Ignite 2019 that Edge would come to Linux at some point. My guess is that meant builds for x86_64. I would like to ask that builds be made for ARM64 as well. With ARM64 for Windows being put out there at some point in the near future, it would be nice to see all bases covered.102KViews32likes42CommentsNew Tab Search UI (Ctrl + Shift + A) has changed - how to revert to previous behavior?
Since the latest Microsoft Edge update, the Tab Search panel opened with Ctrl + Shift + A has changed. It now opens on the side instead of in the center, and arrow key navigation no longer works. Only Tab navigation works now. This makes it much harder to use quickly. Is there any way to restore the previous centered Tab Search UI, or re-enable up and down arrow navigation, or undo this specific UI change? The old version worked perfectly for my workflow. The new version slows everything down. Thanks, MichaelSolved418Views7likes6CommentsiPhone Edge 144 "Send to devices" - "No Device found"
About a week ago, when Edge was on version 143, everything worked as expected. After updating to version 144, the “Send to devices” feature no longer detects any Windows computers on the same network. No settings were changed on my end — the only change was updating Edge to the latest version on both iPhone and Windows. Any ideas?264Views4likes2CommentsHow to export an extension?
I don't know if my question is relevant in this forum, if not I apologize in advance. How do I export and import an extension I have on Edge Canary from one PC to Edge Canary from another PC? It is possible? Does Edge have any features that do this? An extension has recently been removed from the Chrome Store, but I would like to install this extension. As I already have this extension installed on Edge Canary on another PC I wondered if I could copy or export this extension from one computer to another.Solved46KViews2likes6CommentsInstalling MicrosoftEdgeEnterpriseX64.msi - Error 1722
When installing MicrosoftEdgeBetaEnterpriseX64.msi (current Version 80.0.361.48) I get following MSI Error 1722: Product: Microsoft Edge for Business- Error 1722. I had my laptop, running Windows 11 Home version 10.0.22621 and plugged it into a printer yesterday (HP Laserjet e52645). It wouldn't recognise it and I have been using it daily for weeks. I removed the device in Printers & Settings, and when I asked it to Add a Printer or Scanner, it would not recognise it. I tried also to install it with HP's installation software and it would not recognise that the printer was connected via USB. Today, I took my laptop to another site and plugged it into a Brother HL-2040, an old printer which was already installed and I have been using for ages. Again, no response. I removed the device in Printers & Settings, and when I asked it to Add a Printer or Scanner, it would not recognise it again. The USB ports work for my mouse and other devices, but the computer just won't recognise any printer. The only thing that is different between when the printers worked and now was the installation of Edge Dev. I uninstalled Edge Dev and the problem resolved. Was advised from support to report this as a potential issue.542Views0likes2CommentsEdge Security breaks SQLite WASM loading
Edge with "Enhance your security on the web" toggled on, either Balanced or Strict breaks loading of the Sqlite WASM package. Believe this may have started with 144, but also appears to be in Dev/Canary 145. It looks as if it is somehow corrupting the WASM binary, although I am not an expert on this. You can confirm this by toggling the setting on and visiting projects using this library, eg. https://sqlime.org/86Views1like1CommentBlock Microsoft from running experiments in the Microsoft Edge browser
Browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Microsoft Edge come with built-in functionality to run experiments. Browser makers like Mozilla or Google may enable or disable features or changes in select browsers; this is often used to A-B test features or get early feedback on new implementations. While most users may not even notice that experiments are running in their browsers, it happened in the past that experiments caused issues. The latest case was revealed in November when administrators from around the world reported that a Chrome experiment would crash browsers in organizations worldwide. Negative side-effects of experiments are a problem for home users and business users alike, and it is often desirable to disable or block experiments from being downloaded and run. Microsoft distinguishes between controlled feature rollouts and experiments in the company's new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser. Both are made available to part of the user base when they start to roll out but similarities end here. Microsoft notes: Microsoft Edge builds have features and functionality that are still in development or are experimental. Experiments are like CFR, but the size of the user group is much smaller for testing the new concept. These features are hidden by default until the feature's rolled out or the experiment's finished. Experiment flags are used to enable and disable these features. System administrators may use the "Control communication with the Experimentation and Configuration Service" on pro and Enterprise editions of Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 to prevent experiments in the browser. Here is what is needed for that: Get the latest Microsoft Edge policy file from the Microsoft Edge Insider website. It is likely that the policies will become available natively eventually when Edge is released and integrated in Windows. Extract the file (first a cab, then a zip). Open Windows > Admx. Copy the two .admx template files to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\. Open the language folder that matches the system language and copy the .adml files to the corresponding language folder of C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\ Open Start, type gpedit.msc and hit the Enter-key to open the Group Policy Editor. Consult this Docs page on the Microsoft website for additional scenarios, e.g. when domain controllers are used. Open Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge. Open the policy "Control communication with the Experimentation and Configuration Service" policy. Set the policy to Enabled. Set it to either "Retrieve configurations only" or "Disable communication with the Experimentation and Configuration Service". Retrieve will download configuration payloads only, disable won't download or enable them. The behavior of not configuring the policy differs depending on whether it is a managed or unmanaged device. Managed devices will download the configuration only while unmanaged devices will retrieve configurations and experiments. Hello, I am using Edge browser Version 142.0.3595.80 (Official build) (64-bit), on Linux. When downloading a file , and trying to open the downloaded file from wihin browser, it causes edge browser instances to close. I have been using other browsers to get around the problem. Is this a known problem, and are there a solution to this problem? Thanks, Jay221Views1like8CommentsWhy do you want to kill Edge?
At this point, as an average user, it honestly feels like you’re trying to sink Edge — and dragging Copilot down with it — all in the name of MSN. MSN is one of the most cluttered, bait‑and‑switch‑heavy, pseudo‑news sites on the internet. Every time I click something that looks like it might be an interesting story, it turns out to be poorly written, is slanted by opinion, or is a slideshow designed to force me through a maze of ads. Half the time, the headline promises information that never actually appears. And yet, this is the experience being forcibly glued into Edge like the annoying little brother your mom makes you take everywhere. I’m simply done. I’m tired of hunting for ways to turn it off, only for it to pop back up like a bad sitcom reboot. The frustrating part is that you actually have something great with Edge and Copilot. Copilot is far more interactive and helpful than Gemini, and much easier for everyday people to use than ChatGPT. But all of that potential gets weighed down by something users didn’t want, didn’t ask for, and can’t fully remove. MSN is fetch. It’s not going to happen. So stop forcing it down our collective throats.19Views0likes0CommentsPersistent issues with Read Aloud in Edge
I have Windows 11. Today I began having an issue wherein the Read Aloud feature built into Edge doesn't work. I was initially trying to use a similar function on Internet Archive, and noticed that while all the Microsoft voices seemed to be available in the onsite dropdown, the only voices that made any sound were David, Mark, and Zira---none of the "Online (Natural)" voices. I tried to use Read Aloud as a workaround, and found all the buttons greyed out completely. Mind you, everything worked fine yesterday, and I made no changes to my computer in the intervening time. I've opened up two support tickets, but neither live chat agent was able to resolve the issue. Here are the things I've tried with their help: trying the feature on different websites updating & restarting Edge resetting Edge settings to defaults updating & restarting computer switching wifi networks connecting to a hotspot using InPrivate mode using a new Edge profile (rule out interference from extensions) checking that English tts is downloaded in Time & language > Language & region turning Online speech recognition off and back on again resetting experimental features checking sound systems (they work, but just in case) doing a system reset (?) to 24 hours ago, which took about an hour and undid all the updates I just mentioned maybe something else I don't remember? The next thing I am going to try is give my computer a long nap. It's been a while, so maybe it just needs some shut eye. Otherwise, help????48Views0likes0CommentsEdge Dev: Highlighted text mini menu no longer appearing.
