Well, it's been a couple of weeks since this update was forced onto everyone. I've lost count of the number of customers that have been in touch to tell me they've 'lost' Microsoft Remote Desktop. Nobody read that tiny little banner at the top of the connection list.
To make matters worse, I renamed my own copy of Microsoft Remote Desktop to "Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.9.10.app" in the hope that the App Store would avoid auto-updating it (I also took a manual copy and zipped it up so that no automated process could delete it without my knowledge). What ended up happening was the "Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.9.10.app" binary kept its name but I noticed its icon changed to the Windows App icon. Sure enough, the App Store updated it but kept my custom name.
As a "fix" for customers I've ended up pushing out a one liner to most of their clients which just symlinks /Applications/Windows\ App.app to /Applications/Microsoft\ Remote\ Desktop.app
I also agree that the new list view is sluggish and pointless. At least give us the option of having a basic list view like we used to have, no thumbnails just a nice plain list that was reactive and you could scroll and search through with speed.
Ho hum. This is progress, so they say.
