Given the importance of high-quality update reporting, Windows Autopatch is expanding the scope and availability of reports beyond devices that are members of an Autopatch group:
- Autopatch reports will be available to customers without requiring them to have a global administrator to activate Windows Autopatch features. Previously, this step was needed before accessing Autopatch reporting.
- Autopatch reports will now cover all devices assigned to an Autopatch policy. Previously, they only covered devices that were members of an Autopatch group.
There are two new reports: Windows quality updates and Windows feature updates. These reports are designed to simplify tracking of update compliance. With less than a four-hour client-to-cloud latency and a 90-day trend graph showing which devices are up to date, you can determine if your users' endpoints are patched and running the Windows version they intend.
This new version of Autopatch reporting began to roll out in mid-November 2024, and it will continue rolling out in phases to all users through the end of March 2025. If you haven't experienced it yet, expect a new Windows Autopatch section to show up in Microsoft Intune reporting even if you haven't completed feature activation.
Windows quality update reports
To view the quality update reports, go to the Microsoft Intune admin center and navigate to Reports > Windows Autopatch > Windows quality updates. You'll see a summary that shows an overall trend as well as statistics regarding the status of devices assigned to update ring policies.

Identifying which devices are having issues is simple. Select the Not up to date status and drill down to the Quality update status report filtered to that policy and status. If there is a known issue for a device, you'll see an alert in the devices list. Select that alert for more details.
Windows feature update reports
To view the feature update reports, go to the Microsoft Intune admin center and navigate to Reports > Windows Autopatch > Windows feature updates. Here, you'll see a summary of overall trends as well as statistics about the status of devices assigned to feature update policies.
Identifying which devices are having issues is simple. Select the Not up to date status to drill down to the Feature update status report filtered to that policy and status. If there is a known issue for a device, you'll see an alert in the devices list. Select that alert for more details.
Device status
To save you from the trouble of comparing build numbers, each device assigned to an Autopatch policy has one of the following statuses in the reports:
- Up to date: The device's current version matches the target version.
- In progress: The device isn't on the target version yet, but it's before the compliance deadline.
- Not up to date: The device isn't on the target version, and it's beyond its target compliance deadline.
You can always look up the precise build numbers and other details associated with a device in the relevant device status report.
