Hi There,
We are actively using the "Driver updates for Windows 10 and later" policies in our organisation, but we are receiving annoying helpdesk calls from our users.
For examble, one of the cases is about HP ProBook 450 G8 devices. We approved the latest firmware for that device and now we receive numerous calls about devices that are asking for the bitlocker recovery key. All devices are indeed protected using bitlocker, but something seems to go wrong here.
We suspect that on several occasions it was due to not having a charger connected to the device. Firmware was not properly installed and device management was reporting that a Firmware-update failed during last attempt and it would update again during next reboot. However, even after connecting a charger and rebooting, the firmware would not install and an exclamation mark stays present on the device in device manager.
In Windows Update the firmware update is not visible anymore.
Update: HP mentions in there manuals that a message to connect a charger is only prompted when battery is below 50%. My test device has almost 100% battery and no charger connected, so that might not be the reason for the bitlocker issue.
When manually installing a firmware update we need to connect a charger, or at least get a warning about that. How is Intune managing this requirement? And what if this requirement is not met?
Any clues what might be wrong with our setup that might trigger this bitlocker issue and tips on how to mitigate this?
