In the business environment we work in today, there are two main factors to consider when it comes to print: the reduction of unnecessary pages and the security of processed pages. Secure Print contributes to answering both these needs.
Several years ago, Lexmark began releasing our Lexmark Cloud Services offerings, including print and fleet management solutions, to simplify the infrastructure required by customers.
Today Lexmark Cloud Services offer a portal for upload, email submission, as well as clients for Windows / Mac / Linux / and Chrome OS that provide a similar File-Print user experience. By integrating our secure print release with Universal Print, we were excited to add another submission path into the offering.
“Universal Print continues to be a discussion point with our customers and how we can fully integrate into the Microsoft ecosystem. As we look to grow those discussions beyond direct printing capabilities, the opportunity to integrate with our cloud offerings and provide a holistic secure print solution is our logical next step. Cloud services and solutions continue to evolve daily, so stay tuned as we continue to grow and expand with our partners in the industry,” said Larry Early, director, Lexmark software and industry marketing.
Secure Print setup is initiated through our Lexmark Cloud Services portal. Once activated, a print object is created in your Universal Print queue and then, we follow standard Universal Print flows.
Step 1: Device registration
Step 2: The print experience remains File->Print, which is the goal for Lexmark and our customers.
Step 3: With the integration of Cloud Print Management (CPM) and Universal Print you now have a virtual print queue attached to your account, so when you authenticate at any CPM capable Lexmark device you have access to all your print jobs.
