If the source channel for updates is Windows Update, Windows Update for Business, or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), there is no actionable or visible change for anyone, including third-party patching solutions, consumers, and admins. You don’t need any special treatment for checkpoints. And if you miss installing it, all you need to do is simply approve/deploy the latest security update (just as you do today).
As noted above, if the source channel for updates is Microsoft Update Catalog, you’ll notice that a given update may contain more than one update package file available for download. There will be one file for each checkpoint, plus an additional file that contains cumulative payload from the latest checkpoint. This information will be included in the Knowledge Base (KB) article for that release.
