I would like to understand how monthly updates are deployed in rings, due to the short time of a month. Can you elaborate?
[Mark's Reply] At launch we will have two release cadences. Expedite and Normal. Expedite is for situations where there is a zero-day threat, and it goes out very fast. The Normal path is still being evaluated by customers so we might make a change here, but our general goal is to strike a balance between productivity and security. We are aiming to complete the deployment of an update throughout the entire environment in 21 days. We first release to early rings and allow for a few days to detect issues (they don't always manifest right after installation), and then we release to the broad ring a little after a week. Then it can just take time for all devices to come online, get the update, and wait for for reboot.
Do you plan to extend this to Windows Server and Server products where patching is even more of a burden and time eater?
[Mark's Comment] No support for Windows Server at this time. Autopatch as a tech dependency on Intune, so we'd first have to figure out a solution here.
Do I assume correctly that autopatch is also the end of update policies to set in ADM / CSP?
[Mark's Comment] I'm not 100% sure I understand this question, but Autopatch does use MDM CSPs to set policies on devices for Windows updates. We do configure and monitor more on the device too
