Joe_Lurie(or anyone else that knows)
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I've been asked a few times on my end and I don't know the answer as I'm not directly involved with this part of our enterprise environment.
We've always used the Business Store, which doesn't work in Windows 11 and is going away for Windows 10. As part of this, we have always blocked the "Public" store so users in our environment cannot have open access to thousands non work related apps. (I suspect most enterprise environments have done the same thing.)
I admit I don't know how specifically our folks have 'blocked' the Public store. I assume via domain policies. But here is my question:
With Windows 11, some of the "built in" apps that come with the OS are updated via the Store. Since we block the Public store, does that mean none of the built in apps in Windows 11 are ever updated? I've had folks ask about this and if it creates any kind of security concern, or simply getting updates to fix issues with those apps.
If blocking the Public store prevents built in apps in the Windows 11 OS from ever updating, how are others keeping these updated with the Public store blocked? Is there a way to block the Public store, but still allow updates to come down?
Thank you for any information you can provide.
