As others have alluded to, why force Weather and More to include widgets we have zero interest in? I don't care about stocks, and I don't care about the NBA! And the things I DO care about you don't show me, such as AI/tech-related info, nor is there an obvious/easy way to change it to something I am interested in. Is the NBA hurting for viewers so much so that they're paying MS to force their content on us? If you must show sports, as least allow us to choose which sport so I can set it to baseball which has some appeal.
But why is Microsoft often so obtuse to the obvious? The fact that you force information on the user that they have no interest in rather than information they care about is absurd. Isn't advertising all about building a user profile to target users with content/topics they're actually interested in? This actually wouldn't be terrible if the user was allowed to choose the content/topics they're interested in.
I am a developer, and this reeks of something that was not well thought out and is poorly implemented or was forced upon us from the executive board or marketing department because MS got paid to show specific advertising.
Do better!
