Government Community Cloud (GCC) customers can purchase one of two different versions of Windows 365
Windows 365 has an “Enterprise” offering and a “Government” offering, each meeting different requirements necessary for US State, Local, Municipal, and Tribal governments (and some Federal agencies).
With the arrival of Windows 365 Frontline for GCC, we’re taking the opportunity to update this blog to help further clarify the choices a customer should consider in their purchase of Windows 365.
Which Windows 365 offering should my Government agency choose?
The following offerings support FedRAMP High Authorized workloads for Government Community Cloud (GCC):

- Windows 365 Frontline for GCC

GCC customers with CJIS or IRS 1075 requirements should select Windows 365 Government for GCC or Windows 365 Frontline for GCC.
Customers should also select Windows 365 Government for GCC or Windows 365 Frontline for GCC if Cloud PCs need to connect to resources hosted in an Azure Government subscription.
For most other cases, Windows 365 Enterprise for FedRAMP will meet government requirements and can simplify management and environmental complexity.
Key considerations for government customers choosing an offering
If you are a GCC customer, and are considering Windows 365, please review the following:
- Do you have FedRAMP Moderate or High, but no requirements for CJIS or IRS 1075, or have a need to connect to resources in the Azure commercial cloud?
o If yes, select “Windows 365 Enterprise for FedRAMP” or “Windows 365 Frontline for FedRAMP.”
- Do you have existing resources in Microsoft Azure Government environment? Do you require CJIS or IRS1075?
o If yes, select “Windows 365 Government for GCC” or “Windows 365 Frontline for GCC.”
Note: We have found the majority of GCC tenant customer requirements are met with the Windows 365 Enterprise for FedRAMP and Windows 365 Frontline for FedRAMP offerings.
Choosing the correct edition is important: Windows 365 Enterprise for FedRAMP and Windows 365 Government for GCC offerings are mutually exclusive and cannot both be provisioned within a single tenant.
