Customize Surface Hub with Progressive Web Apps

We’re pleased to announce that Surface Hub customers now have access to an expanding universe of applications in the form of Progressive Web Apps or PWAs. The new capability built into a recent Surface Hub update lets admins install popular PWAs like Zoom, WebEx, and YouTube. End users can even temporarily install their own PWAs during a Surface Hub session. This exciting update opens Surface Hub to a wealth of apps and experiences previously unavailable through the Microsoft Store.

Technically, any website can be installed as an app, but PWAs are coded to leverage browser capabilities that let apps perform more like a native or mobile app. Organizations can install PWAs to the All Apps menu and make them available on the Start Menu.

Admins can use a mobile device management (MDM) provider like Microsoft Intune to remotely deploy PWAs to multiple Surface Hubs. There’s also support for installing PWAs via a provisioning pack, a good option if you only want to deploy apps to a single Surface Hub device.

Check out the video below for a quick demo where I explain how to deploy PWAs using Microsoft Intune and show how to customize the Start menu so users have instant access to key apps at the start of every Surface Hub session.

Installation of Progressive Web Apps is one of the latest capabilities we are building into Surface Hub to empower organizations with new ways to collaborate and enhance the hybrid meeting experience.

Hi, just have a question regarding setting up MDM, I keep on getting an error saying "Something went wrong" whenever I try to Configure Intune. Surface hub account is set up and has network connection. That's the only thing that's now working. Hoping you could give me some help on this. Thanks!
