Thank you for the post, erinstellato. I will admit that I've been frustrated with what seems like a lack of commitment to SSMS developer experience for many years, and it alleviates my concerns to see you address them head on here.
- Since SSMS 21 will be using the VS 2022 shell, does that mean Microsoft will be finally making it available since they've locked down access to versions beyond 2015?
- Might you consider consulting someone like miketv to implement dark mode? He's already done an insane amount of impressive work via SQL Shades, and there's probably no one who understands the ins and outs of this particular problem better than him. If you bring your passionate and skilled community into the fold and consequently deliver this feature much faster than would otherwise be feasible, I will DoorDash you an entire burrito every week for 6 months.
