I am excited to hear about the availability of new systems running on AMD EPYC processor-based servers optimized for SQL Server 2022. This collaboration between server OEMs and AMD EPYC processors promises to provide enhanced performance, improved efficiency, decreased power requirements, and saved physical data center space compared to prior releases.
I am also impressed with the advanced security features that AMD EPYC processors offer, helping protect valuable proprietary data. Additionally, SQL Server has proven to have fewer vulnerabilities than the competition over the last ten years, indicating a robust security protocol.
I do have some questions about the specific features of this collaboration, such as how it addresses sustainability through energy efficiency, and how it compares to other available options in the market. Moreover, I am curious about the benefits of running a Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment for disaster recovery with Azure SQL Managed Instance. I look forward to learning more about this at the PASS Data Community Summit next week.
