January 2026 – Microsoft is announcing the deprecation of the System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Management Packs (MPs) for:
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI Report Server (PBIRS)
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
These management packs will remain available through January 2027, after which they will no longer be supported. No new updates will be released, including no support for SQL Server 2025 or SCOM 2025. Customers planning to deploy SQL Server 2025 will not have official SCOM MP support for SSRS, PBIRS, or SSAS workloads.
What This Means for Customers
- Microsoft support for SSRS/PBIRS and SSAS Management Packs in SCOM ends January 2027.
- Existing MPs will continue to function in SCOM 2019 and SCOM 2022, but no new features, fixes, or security updates will be provided.
- Compatibility with SSAS 2025, SCOM 2025, future Windows versions, or later releases of SSAS/PBIRS is not guaranteed.
Deprecation Timeline

- January 2027: End of support
Call to Action: Plan Your Transition
We recommend customers begin planning their migration to Azure-based monitoring solutions. These solutions provide a scalable, cloud‑driven approach for monitoring both SSRS/PBIRS and SSAS servers using: Azure Monitor + Azure Arc + Log Analytics
This approach is a unified alternative that offers centralized telemetry ingestion, alerting, performance monitoring, and dashboarding for hybrid and on‑premises environments.
High-Level Migration Steps:
- Enable Azure Arc on your SSRS/PBIRS and SSAS servers to register and manage them into Azure.
- Install the Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) on each Arc-enabled server to enable telemetry collection.
- Create a Log Analytics Workspace to centralize monitoring data for analysis and alerting.
- Define Data Collection Rules (DCRs) to gather performance counters, event logs, and custom logs.
- Configure alerts for service health, performance thresholds, and configuration issues.
- Build dashboards and reports for real-time and historical insights using Azure Monitor Workbooks.
