The new Panel is not working in our SP2016 environment. Sometimes it is empty and it does not work with documents that are created from the application. It says "Document Information Panel: No SharePoint properties found."
With Office 2010 it was easy to create a new document, but now you can't even save a newly created file to a synced folder. Word asks you for the content type and then the new add-in can't connect. If you try to do it via the the document properties you face the problem with the people picker (we have a responsible field (required)) that can't establish a connection with the server.
There are many cases users can't enter all metadata like they did with Office 2010. Does somebody else have the same problem here?
There is also the problem that files cotaining spaces in the filename like "This is a test.docx" can't also connect with the new panel. I've tested it and when I eliminate all blanks in the name the panel shows the metadata.
