I hope this comment will not come off as attacking the developers or Microsoft, but I have found this road map concerning. Do not get me wrong, I am excited for several of the additions and changes, but before spending all their time doing this there should be some attention to fixing the terrible design issues in SharePoint. Issues that I imagine could be solved with minimal effort. This road map makes me question if anyone on the SharePoint team at Microsoft has ever used the product. I'll give a few examples to convey this point.
1. You can't create a new page from the Site Pages library with a template. This functionality is already available when creating a new page from any other page. Why would I not want the option of using a template from the library itself?
2. If a page has a library webpart of the site pages there is no way to open one of the pages in the same tab. Every other type of webpart that links has an option for this.
3. They changed managed metadata filtering to list view by default FROM TREE VIEW and there is no way to make tree view the default. I'm sure there was a reason for this, but I don't see how it was a good enough one to ruin the only easy hierarchy navigation system they had.
4. You can copy a page into a folder but oh no you can't just move it. This slightly makes sense since folders are disabled by default for the pages library, and it messes with any links to the page but come on. You ruined metadata navigation, and you don't want us to use folders either. It takes a lot of work to get around this crap.
The list goes on and on. These are just ones that really make me question if they've ever used the product. I could be totally wrong, and these are things that make sense or there are functionalities I just don't know about. I get tons of questions from users about share point and why things are done a certain way, and my only response is SharePoint sucks to use. Clearly the SharePoint team is working very hard adding all these things but maybe some time should be spent fixing what is currently there.
