After a slew of Ignite announcements last month, it’s time to get back into the regular rhythm of monthly updates.

The updates for Project for the Web are as follows:

New Features Now Available

  • People View ~ See the work allocation across your team and balance workloads easily.
  • API Support for Editing Contours ~ Enables developers to programmatically specify a task assignee's effort across any supported date range for more granular project planning.
  • Sprints ~ Create and prioritize tasks in their backlogs, define sprints and their date boundaries, move tasks between sprints and their respective backlogs, and then build reports to include that data.

Upcoming Features

  • Grid Conditional Coloring ~ Make your Project experience more visual by configuring rules on various project fields that color the grid cells based on the data within them.
  • Extended Timeline Zoom ~ Get a more complete picture of your project in the Timeline view by using new zoom scale options.

Yeah...I can see "Increased Number of Tasks", "Advanced Dependencies" and "Grid Conditional Coloring" from Ignite 2022, on the roadmap.... but not....

You should learn from the Azure DevOps team, specifically Dan Hellem's team, lots of action and participation with the community:

To finish off, the term Project has been synonymous with the tool Microsoft Project for almost 40 years.... I seriously begin to wonder how much longer that will be the case....

  • TonyStark  Looks like it's the same playbook as Ignite 2021 - see below. Say it's coming, don't say when, don't answer questions, don't see it on the roadmap.

    Looking forward to Ignite 2023.

Least we have more coloring in functions coming up.

As I mentioned elsewhere, Cathy says exactly that in the video above - "Soon, Project tasks will flow into the Assigned to You list in the Task in the Teams tasks app".
