Staying organized is one important factor in delivering projects on time and within budget. Two features released earlier in March are aimed at helping you in this regard. Read on to see what these features can do for you and your team.

 New Features:

  • Colors in custom field drop down~ Add colors to your custom fields for better visual organization of your project plans.

  • Priority Field ~ Almost finished rolling out, set the priority of your tasks in Project for the web, to better help sort and prioritize your work.
  • Labels ~ Almost finished rolling out, add up to 25 different colored labels to your tasks in Project for the web for better visual organization.

Upcoming Features:

  • Guest Users ~ Add people who are not part of your Microsoft 365 Group to your projects & assign tasks to them. This can include external stakeholders such as vendors or partners.
  • Templates ~ Get a jump start on your projects with a set of built-in templates.
  • Task edit for Microsoft 365 users ~ Enable your users with Microsoft 365 licenses to edit tasks assigned to them from a project plan built in Project for the web.
  • Charts View ~ Visually assess the progress of your work through charts.

"Allow Microsoft 365 users to provide progress updates on their assigned tasks" is absolutely imperative in order to let M365 colleagues share their tasks progress without have to ask them every time and then manually complete them. Please!

I'm hoping MS takes the same level of engagement they did with Teams considering they are shifting their focus to project for the web and have stopped developing new features for project online. We are in the limbo at the moment here, we should have more engagement from MS side with us... I'm feeling this roadmap and the execution not matching our expectations as a community of companies trying to sell this service over other competitors.

Yeah, it looks like it's gonna be another year without consolidated tasks :

Without consolidated tasks I can't roll this out at work.

Colors in custom fields, labels, priority fields and checklists are all nice visual additions, but consolidated tasks is a necessity for many companies to be able to consider this solution seriously.

  • None of the upcoming features are featured in the top requests from your new user voice? Why do it. Brian-Smith didn't you flag the most requested feature of consolidated task view was coming in project for the web roadmap preso?

Do you have updated timing for other dependency options, such as FF, SF as well as lag? How about exporting(or re-using/referencing) a existing timeline? I am unable to switch from desktop until at least the additional dependencies are added. I have been checking monthly for a update on these features.

  • Increasing the number of tasks from 500 to let's say 2500 is urgently needed. 500 tasks are nothing for a paid product.

Guest access was scheduled for February, we are already in April. Please prioritise that.

Also, at the moment there is no way to create a field called priority, I guess that is because you guys are creating yours at the backend and that is not available? Still I can't see it anywhere to hide/unhide as a field
