View Planner tasks on your Outlook calendar

Is there another step to use this feature for .Mil users? I've been trying to add these task dates onto my outlook calendar and been unsuccessful whether for an entire group's calendar or mine individually whether it's assigned to me or not. I can see them in the planners calendar but haven't been able to use the "add to outlook" feature this blog talks about. I've tried from the teams desktop app/browser and also from the planners app on teams and in the browser.

My advice would be to give up.  They've been promising O365/Outlook integration for years with absolutely no progress or updates.  The iCal calendar publishing option is not a tenable workaround for project planning.  The delay you are seeing is not on the planner side.  The polling interval is handled purely on the client end.  But even if you add the calendar to your primary Send/Receive group, it is read-only, and you can end up with duplicates or missed appointments on an almost daily basis.

It is clear Microsoft has absolutely no intention to complete this project.  If anyone from the Microsoft dev team wants to chime and contradict me here, that would be wonderful.  You're only running about three years behind.

Finally, is there a solution for the planner-outlook synchronization problem? So far, I've only read about a lag issue as the solution, however in my case, even waiting for a complete day, my calendar is not synchronized but it is a copy-paste of my imported planner and never updated.

+1 on LetMeSP comments - security is also important. With both Planner and Outlook being Office 365 apps, Microsoft can no doubt find a secure way to provide seamless integration into a users personal calendar?

We need to have items on the planner board that are assigned to a particular user added directly into that users' personal calendar and NOT a separate calendar. To put it another way, we need users to see the tasks assigned to them alongside their own meetings and their own schedule, not require them to open another calendar to see tasks.

It will be OK to have the tasks set as "all day" on the due date set in Planner (so they appear at the top of the personal calendar and do not block time). Ideally, I'd also like to be able to set alerts from within Planner too, but can live without any alert, as long as the task shows on the users' personal calendar and NOT a separate calendar.

I would like to create a new calendar where all my tasks show up. Currently, I can only find a way to add current tasks to my Outlook calendar, but it just creates a new calendar every time I need to add a task to it. Can't Planner just automatically link every task assigned to me to my Outlook calendar? It's like Teams, Planner, and Outlook have a few features that are helpful individually, but even all together they can't help assign, manage schedules, and coordinate as well as a third party company like Smart Sheet. And now I'm trying to mess with flow and add all these things to all these apps. Man, this is a confusing mess. 

A part of the idea for us with adding the planner calendar to outlook would be that it actually pushes a user's personal tasks (from planner) into their personal calendar (and not a separate calendar). This would allow a colleague with access to their calendar to see what tasks they have. Also, it would mean that you as an employee using planner for your tasks would not need to have to calendars open to get an overview of tasks on one hand and meeting and other calendar items on the other.

What I'm looking for is basically a function that kind of invites my personal calendar on to the same calendar item as is being created when I'm put on a task in planner.

Maybe this is already possible - so I'm all ears!

Hi, I saw an old post (2018), saying that it’s not possible to define start, end and time duration when using under Flow, an action to create an event on Outlook calendar and planner.

Does this still works like that?

I have processes/projects, with several tasks and each with its own different time duration. My need is when running the Flow, that all programmed tasks would be created in Outlook calender and Planner according to:

- <manual trigger DATE> + x days (ex. 2019/10/17 + 5 days => 2019/10/22

- <manual trigger DATE:START TIME> + y minutes of task duration (ex. DATE 2019/10/22, START TIME 9:30am + 15 mins. => 2019/10/122, END TIME 9:45am.

My goal is, besides creating the tasks, to insert expected task duration time to make sure task holder complies with “expected task duration time” as well as we don’t get task overflow on a particular task busy day of the week.
