I am very concerned about the recent announcement from Microsoft relating to the bizarre decision to retire PWA. My team rely on this and I have used Project Enterprise for years. Whilst I understand the logic that it is an old technology and not suitable for AI enhancement, the fact remains that Planner is not a suitable replacement. Planner is little more than a toy and has virtually none of the functionality that my team needs. Specifically, it does not handle Gantts well, has little to no resource management and cannot create the advanced budget reports I can export from Project. To add to this, I have found most of the proposed automations do not work due to permissions errors so I can’t even extract properly into PowerBI.
Please can you explain the logic behind the bizarre decision to retire PWA without a suitable replacement? I know I could host it myself but this is really only a step away from MS removing all support for the product. Planner is not fit for purpose so what are we supposed to do? I have been a loyal Microsoft customer for years but this is really forcing me to look elsewhere. This is a little like Microsoft deciding to scrap Word and revert to Wordstar (showing my age here).
