Roberto_Bojorquez thank you for your engagement and advocacy for the user community of both Planner and P4W. In several comments, you requested feedback and ideas for enhancements. Here are some ideas that I've been collecting specific to P4W:
Necessary Base Features:
- Ability to share project plans, especially templates, with team members without having to create a group. Currently, when our PM creates a plan, they can't share it with anyone else in the PMO for plan development collaboration until it's finished and ready for publishing to the O365 Group.
- Option to copy assignments, hours, labels, and attachments over when copying a project plan (similar to Planner asking when copying a task)
- Filter and sort at column headers
- Ability to format columns as $
- Portfolio and program views (possible revamp or additional feature to the Roadmap in P4W)
- High-level project status dashboard on the home page with ability to pin projects (similar to Planner)
Project Cost Tracking:
- Cost calculated fields. ex: Effort Hrs x rate or role
- O365 users can enter actual hours. Could CoPilot automate the actual hours tracking?
- Assign planned and track actual hours per user even when there are multiple users assigned to a task. Currently calculates total hours divided by number of users equally. The new Assignments view helped with this some, but tedious to edit.
Ease of Use/Navigation:
- Ability to multi-select column fields and update all of them at once.
- Ability to search other custom columns already created on a different project before adding a new custom column. Possibly save a list of existing custom columns across all projects.
- Ability to switch between recent projects from project title field in upper left, rather than going back to the home page.
- Ability to filter resource assignments by the resource's department.
- Select and drag data in one field up or down additional fields in that column to copy/paste (similar to Excel)
- Add most recent contact in the Assigned To field list at the top of the drop-down list instead of the bottom.
- Automatically exclude template projects from reporting, ex: in PowerBI reports
Customization:
- Ability for a custom column multiple choice option
- Ability to hide columns based on user permission level or license level.
- Add custom fields to project level details pane: sponsor, lead, owning department, program, strategic priority(s), criticality, overall status of pending, active, on hold, completed, associate project with vendors, customers, or clients.
- Customizable notifications and reminders; include ability to select weekly, coming due, overdue. Similar to Planner
- Highlight or flag data fields that need review.
Some questions about the upcoming platform consolidation:
- Will the Assignments View in P4W still be available in the Premium Planner?
- Currently, O365 users without a P4W license can see the grid and bucket view in P4W and edit % Complete, progress, and hours on tasks they're assigned to. Will this still be the case or will they need a Premium Planner license to interact with a plan created using Premium Planner?
- Will there be an update to the default P4W PowerBI reports? Last I checked, the most recent report package was from 2021.
- Will there be any enhancements or updates to the Resource Scheduling PowerApp? It's very clunky to use. I'd love to see MS put more development into the resource management functionalities.
