I'll echo Adam_S's input - I'm looking to streamline efficiency and management of multiple projects with multiple moving pieces. Project Desktop is fantastic for the complexity of variables and constraints allowed in a schedule. I've done some tinkering with Planner 'Plans'(?) to generate premium schedules for projects, and this does carry a decent amount of detail but not quite as much as I get through Projects Desktop so I tend to prefer Projects.
With the sunsetting of PWA, is there a plan to link or integrate Projects Desktop with Planner? Even if we're able to import pieces of an .mpp that would still help with team coordination and oversight considerably! I'd rather not have to double-generate a schedule as that doubles the effort needed just to share project statuses with my team.
It looks like the only way the two can currently interact is if I: generate a schedule in Planner, export to Excel as xlsx, import into Projects, but this requires a supporting data schema file which isn't readily available, and I'd need to generate one myself. Coding isn't my wheelhouse and Planner doesn't export in a way that can natively merge with Projects. It technically works but not without considerable effort and it's only 1-way in the opposite direction I want. Please advise!
