Subject: Critical Microsoft Planner Bug: Tasks Become Corrupted When Assigned to Goals
Hello everyone,
We are currently experiencing what appears to be a serious bug in Microsoft Planner that is having a major impact on our daily operations.
When a task is assigned to a Goal, the task may become corrupted. Once this happens:
- The task details can no longer be opened.
- Existing task information cannot be edited.
- In some cases, the task becomes completely inaccessible through the Planner interface.
- The issue affects both existing and ongoing work items that were linked to Goals.
The most concerning aspect is that our organization has made extensive use of the Goals feature across a large number of plans and processes. As a result, a significant portion of our Planner environment has effectively become unusable overnight.
This is not just an inconvenience. It disrupts project tracking, task management, and collaboration workflows because affected tasks can no longer be maintained or reviewed properly.
We would like to know:
- Are other organizations experiencing the same issue?
- Has Microsoft acknowledged this bug?
- Is there any known workaround to recover or repair affected tasks?
- Is there an estimated timeline for a fix?
Given how heavily Microsoft has promoted Goals as a key Planner feature, this issue has a particularly severe impact on customers who adopted the functionality extensively.
Any information, confirmations, or workarounds from the community would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
