Will the "feature" of email updates when comments are added to tasks still email everyone who was ever assigned to the task even after they leave? As I was told, the current (non-new) Planner just does a reply-all under the hood through Exchange, so employees who were assigned the task once upon a time continue to receive emails for updates to the items long after they have been removed from the task (including after they've changed roles, changed orgs, and complained to the original task creator to "stop pestering" them 😂). In a large company with many team members, the current reply all is a very non-elegant way to send out email updates.
I hope that it will look at the assigned membership of the task and only send updates to them. I understand the current system was designed so that new people would have the entire email thread, but I would counter that a newcomer can easily go to the item and view the past history if they want. Only emailing current task assignees is the ideal solution to prevent unnecessary/now irrelevant messages from distracting people from their work.
