My client has Project and Planner 3 and there is no way to add another column to the planner. Not only that, much of the documentation on the Microsoft pages is incorrect about what you can do with the "upgraded" version of Planner. As far as I can tell, my client upgraded (at a hefty cost) for no reason as none of the functionality promised was delivered. This is a scam. Feel free to reach out to me for specifics.
Hi JB, your client will need to build a 'Premium' plan (it shows up as an option when they start a new plan). Once they do this it'll come to a table view, where they can go as noted above to 'add column', and they can create the field they need. Click on 'new field' and they can create it here. I'd assume they're not seeing this as they may have started a 'Standard' Planner plan, which doesn't have this capability. Hope this helps.
It's nice of you to assume this is my first rodeo with Microsoft's subpar software. I've been a forcibly loyal user since the first version of Excel (1985).
First, they already have. They are a large Enterprise client, they've had this software installed for over a month, they do not have the "standard" planner, they have the Project and Planner 3 as confirmed by the IT department who purchased the licenses, installed it, and who manages their Enterprise account.Second, the promises around how this all integrates with Teams and Office 365 Online is just a sick joke. Anything input in one location doesn't always roll through to the view in Teams (and vice versa).
Third, the way "Planner" has been rolled out is a disaster. None of the documentation matches what you actually see in the software, regardless of what version you have. Finally, this whole "split" between Project and Planner 3 and Project and Planner 5 is just a money grab.
I've already recommended that move back to Monday.com because of how awful this is. Your "guidance" led with: "your client will need to build a 'Premium' plan" after I started my original comment with "client has Project and Planner 3" tells me that you didn't fully read what I wrote, making the assumption that my client only had the basic/free version.
And this is really part of the larger issue. I have to come to the tech community to try to find answers because the help/support files are so horribly inadequate and the software is half-baked and poorly tested. I'm so tired of Microsoft (and others) selling unfinished applications with promises of efficiency and time savings that never materialize. Peace out.
