To Microsoft employees:
You guys need to find a new fundmanetal approach / philosophy to Windows/Office. In short, stop making dumb, screen-wasting space with annoyingly minor but impactful updates, and dedicate yourselves instead to actually fixing material problems.
This is a great example of a tedious and annoying update where you try and tinker with something that never needed much improvement.
All you have given us is LESS SCREEN SPACE.
Horizontally, you have now made your users lose 5-10% of space.
Vertically – take a look at this:
- you have the file/home/folder view structure – ok
- then you have the search bar, which is very obviously completely misaligned. Move it down and right so it LINES UP with the normal folder menus.
- Then to the right of that, you still have ample space to put the “new” app panel currently on the left).
Nice, I have just created another 5-10% of vertical space too.
This is the difference between intelligence and smarts, and you guys at Microsoft are very short of the latter. Improve it.
