I'm not a geek, just giving my 2 cents and also I hope y'all can help with my confusion about this topic. I totally agree with y'all and all of your reasons you listed. Hopefully MS will listen. I get so very frustrated also with Adobe making changes with removing very important "no brainer" basic needs, in their Acrobat Pro DC.
My confusion is that even before this update I had the same icons as shown in the new updated version. So my already having the icons for the various parts of Outlook on the left has worked good for me to reduce clicks. (Now, as I said earlier, I am not a geek). But I am not using Outlook as y'all are using so I haven't had problems. That is not meant to sound like I am for this update. I am not!!!! I put those icons in the upper left by choice!!!! I don't understand why MS had to change this from being an option to mandatory!!!!
My question to y'all, who know so much more than I do, is; is there a way MS could make this like a hover panel with the icons like the task bar. I don't know if that would help. I strongly believe what others have said that:
- There should be a way to not accept the update for this issue
- I was thinking MS could make a list of updates maybe a month or so before they do an update where users could check mark the updates they want to accept or not accept.
- If there are any mandatory mandatory updates, they also should be listed with explanations and why this has to be mandatory.
- Also, with this list would be a place where we can make comments on each item being updated.
- Stating our reasons why this update wouldn't work for them.
- Giving our suggestions to MS to modify their update.
I don't understand why MS, Adobe, and other companies don't send their customers, who pay good money for the software, emails to notify us of changes and a link to go to to understand the changes to come with a way to make comments at least a month before the changes would happen. I'm actually thinking maybe 6 months before the updates will take place, giving time for MS to receive comments, truly hear their customers complaints and requests, and have time to modify the update in some way. I find there are so many very knowledgeable customers who give great reasons, explanations and suggestions in their comments. There can be easy solutions to modify the issue at hand like others have posted, like giving us options about where the Outlook's
I'm sorry this is so long!!!
